3. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Monday, ordered travelling officers and men to wear plain clothes [mufti] while travelling across Nigeria. This is as Buratai accused the Force Headquarters of making “inciting and inflammatory comments” following soldiers’ killing of three policemen and a civilian in Taraba after they had effected the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume, who is now on the run. Buratai’s order which leaked to the media on Monday was contained in a circular with reference number: AHQDAIOPS/G3/240/232, and copied to Army formations nationwide.

4. Nigeria’s presidency on Monday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari will act on the killing of police officers by soldiers after the panel set up by Chief of Defence Chief, General Gabriel Olonisakin, submits its report. Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, said this in a statement on Tuesday.

5. The Nigerian Army on Monday denied reports that its soldiers arrested a notorious criminal popularly known as Bobrisky in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State. The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike had earlier thanked the army for arresting one of River’s notorious criminal, Bobrisky. But in a reaction to Leadership in Portharcourt, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Division, Colonel Aminu Illiyasu, denied the claims, saying that the army did not arrest Bobrisky or any other criminal in Gokana local government area as claimed.

6. Reports emerged on Monday that President Muhammadu Buhari has dropped Ita Enang as his Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (Senate). Enang is former senator from Akwa Ibom state. Reports suggest that Buhari has picked Omoworare Babajide, a former senator from Osun state as replacement. Enang allegedly did not perform well in managing the relationship between Buhari and senators in the eighth Senate.

7. The Special Presidential Panel on Recovery of Public property, SPIP, yesterday denied the alleged sealing off of its office by the Nigeria Police Force. The Chairman of the panel, Mr Okoi Obono-Obla, refuted the claims in a statement in Abuja on Monday. Reports emerged earlier that operatives of the Nigerian Police sealed the office of one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides and chairman, Special Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property, Barrister Okoi Obono-Obla. The panel’s office at No. 2802 Idris Kutigi Street, Asokoro Extension, Abuja, was at the weekend allegedly sealed off by police operatives.

8. Former governor of old Kaduna State and immediate past national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Alhaji Balarebe Musa has opined that the coming on board of former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attairu Jega into the party is a welcomed development. The elder statesman who is now the chairman of the board of trustee of the party, however, said the party must view his coming into the party with care and caution. Musa said his position was premised on the fact that it was under the Chairmanship of the former INEC boss that the party was deregistered before it was re-registered on court orders.
