We Won’t Stop Attack On Igbo Leaders Until They All Pay Dearly For Their Sins – Nnamdi Kanu

We won

Nnamdi Kanu has insisted that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) will continue with the attack on Igbo leaders in foreign countries.

Alleging that soldiers desecrated the Igbo tradition and culture by invading his father’s palace in Umuahia, the IPOB leader also blamed the death of over 600 IPOB members on ‘Operation Python Dance’ which he claimed was instigated and financed by Igbo leaders.

In the press statement titled “Setting the Records Straight…..” which was issued on Tuesday by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, IPOB warned that they won’t stop until all Igbo leaders pay dearly for their sins.

The statement partly read, “These men instigated, financed and defended a full-scale bloody military invasion of Biafraland; they tagged Operation Python Dance that led to the torture and untimely death of over 600 Biafrans, 28 of which fell in my compound.

“These men sanctioned the desecration of the home of an Igbo tradition ruler by Fulani soldiers and did not care if my father HRM Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and my mother, who were home with me during the unprovoked invasion, is killed or not.

“In view of the Nuremberg encounter, it has become necessary for us to refresh our memories lest it succumbs to confusion and deliberate misinformation because most people, unlike we IPOB, are in the habit of excusing intolerable evil and wickedness but we not.

“Every perpetrator of evil, every purveyor of iniquity, every merchant of misery and every defender of injustice must and will be held to account. We will not relent until justice is served.

“Those with a conscience can now understand the root cause of our anger and why we won’t stop until they all pay dearly for their sins.”

Germany attack: Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Chris Ngige, others pay Ekweremadu sympathy visit

Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Chris Ngige and other members of the 9th senate, paid a sympathy visit to former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, last night.

48 Hours After Ekweremadu’s Attack, German Government Deports New Batch of Nigerian Migrants

48 hours after Ekweremadu?s attack,?German government deports new batch of Nigerian migrants

The German government has deported a new batch of Nigerian migrants barely 48 hours after the attack on former Deputy President of the Senate Ike Ekweremadu, by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to reports, the migrants left Frankfurt Airport at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 19th and are expected to land in Nigeria’s Murtala Mohammed International Airport between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The number of migrants deported was not ascertained as at the time of this report, it was however, gathered that they were picked randomly from different accommodation centres.

Last month two batches of Nigerians were sent back home from the European country.

“The flight will be from Frankfurt on Monday. For those who have been given the information, the plane will take off by 8 a.m. and arrive in Nigeria between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Those who will be deported will be picked randomly from their different accommodation centres from 3 a.m. till 5 a.m. in different regions and conveyed to a central place and finally to Frankfurt Airport,” the Co-ordination Activist for Network Refugees 4Refugees, a political platform for refugees and migrant self-organisation based in Stuttgart, Germany, Rex Osa, told The Nation.

Osa added, “when their asylum application is already expired, they are obligated to leave the country. For those who don’t leave voluntarily, they will be given a what is I can translate in English to mean toleration status. This status is not a resident title; it is to show that the person is still there because the deportation is hindered because of one reason or the other.

“These people are picked up early in the morning without expecting the police. Some would be picked up from work also. When the police arrive in their rooms, they would be allowed to pack things not more than say 64 kilos. The police will be standing to make sure the person does not escape.”

The activist urged the federal government to come to the aid of the victims as many of them are coming with a myriad of challenges.  “Among these people are many sick people. Nigeria should be expecting a lot of people who have psychological problems, and people with spinal cord problems leading to paralysis.”

Syrian Civil War: ‘Three Killed’ in Attack On Turkish Convoy

A Turkish convoy in Idlib reportedly heading for the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun

Syria has condemned the convoy as an act of aggression and says it is heading for the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun

A Syrian government air strike aiming to stop a Turkish convoy reaching a rebel-held town in northern Syria has killed three civilians, Turkey alleges.

Another 12 people were injured in the attack in Idlib province on Monday, the Turkish defence ministry said.

Idlib, one of the few areas not under government control, was supposed to be protected by a buffer zone agreed with rebel-backing Turkey last year.

But government assaults have been on the increase since April.

Hundreds of civilians have already been killed as a result, and there are fears many more will die if the situation continues to escalate.

“This is our worst nightmare coming true,” Jan Egeland, from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), told the BBC.

“We have for years now warned against the ultimate catastrophe being Idlib, where there was no escape for three million civilians. There are some very bad militants inside.

“But a wholesale attack on this area of Idlib and adjacent northern Hama would mean that a million children would come in horrific crossfire, and it’s that that now seems to be happening.”

Why is Turkey sending a convoy into Syria?

Turkey, which backs some, but not all, the rebels, has forces in Idlib as part of last year’s agreement with Russia.

According to Naji Mustafa, a spokesman for the National Liberation Front rebel grouping, the convoy was heading to one of its observation points with “reinforcements” when the attack took place.

An AFP correspondent who saw the convoy reported it included about 50 armoured vehicles, at least five of which were tanks.

But Syria has said the convoy’s arrival in the region is an act of aggression. It said the munitions would not stop government forces “hunting the remnants of terrorists”.

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a Russian aircraft carried out strikes near the convoy on 19 August.

Turkey has said the attack breaches last year’s agreement, with the incident raising fears of direct clashes between the countries.

Why is this happening now?

After eight years of war, the Syrian government is trying to win back control of the last rebel-held areas.

Government forces, backed by Russia, reportedly entered the northwest outskirts of Khan Sheikhoun on Sunday.

Khan Sheikhoun, which was hit by a Sarin gas attack in 2017, lies on a highway connecting Damascus to Aleppo and is a strategically important town in the south of the province.

If it is captured, it will mean the Syrian regime has effectively encircled a rebel-held area to the south, which includes a Turkish observation post in the town of Morek.

Mr Mustafa told AFP the convoy was heading to Morek.

Syrian forces have now massed to both the east and west of Khan Sheikhoun, and air strikes are targeting the centre and surrounding villages.

Last week a Syrian government war plane was shot down in the area, hit by an anti-aircraft missile fired by militants, according to Syrian state news agency Sana.

Jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has claimed responsibility and released footage purportedly showing the captured pilot.

A colonel from a rebel faction confirmed to Reuters news agency that there were battles going on on the outskirts. Fighters from a Turkish-backed rebel force have joined the defence, he said.

Ekweremadu Attack: PDP Were The Main Cheerleaders of IPOB And They Owe This Country An Apology – APC

Ekweremadu Attack: PDP were the main cheerleaders of IPOB and they?owe this country an apology? - APC

The APC while condemning the shameful assault on former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Nuremberg, Germany says the opposition party, PDP owes the country an apology for its support to IPOB in the past.

In a statement signed by APC’s national publicity secretary Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC said, ‘It is clear that PDP and its other shortsighted co-travelers who were the main cheerleaders of IPOB owe this country an apology. IPOB hid under regional identity to perpetrate criminality having recruited some misguided elements and miscreants’.

See the full statement below….

The All Progressives Congress (APC) strongly condemns the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu, immediate past Senate President and serving Senator by members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Saturday in Nuremberg, Germany.

Those involved in the despicable actions and the organisation they represent are unworthy in character. No Nigerian should be assaulted in the manner Senator Ekweremadu was.

It is an indecent action and it is below the acceptable standard of behaviour expected of our citizens whether in Nigeria or abroad. It is however regrettable that some of the people and organizations who had offered these irresponsible elements open support in the past are raising their voices now. It would be recalled that the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its leaders chose to play politics over a matter that called for collective patriotic actions when IPOB raised a terror group in the South East.

It is clear that PDP and its other shortsighted co-travelers who were the main cheerleaders of IPOB owe this country an apology. IPOB hid under regional identity to perpetrate criminality having recruited some misguided elements and miscreants.

Are we surprised by the PDP’s hypocritical reaction to the unfortunate attack on Senator Ekweremadu? No! The PDP and their leaders have acted true to type. This is what happens when politicians become myopic and allow narrow sentiments becloud their sense of judgement.

We all have a responsibility to collectively rise against evil wherever we find it and in whatever guise it appears. We hope lessons have been learnt from this unfortunate incident. SIGNED

“The Barbaric Attack On Ekweremadu Should Be Condemned By All Right-Thinking Nigerians” – Senate President, Ahmad Lawan

?The barbaric attack on Ekweremadu is most reprehensible and should be condemned by all right-thinking Nigerians? - Senate President, Ahmad Lawan

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has condemned the shameful assault on former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Nuremberg, Germany.

Senator Ekweremadu was to give a keynote address at the Second Igbo Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo Germany in that city when a mob, which identified itself as members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), invaded the venue to attack him.

“It is incredibly absurd for anybody to blame the distinguished Senator for the violent criminal activities in his home base, the purported reason cited by the mob for the bewildering attack.

“Senator Ekweremadu, like all his distinguished colleagues in the Ninth Assembly of the Senate, is concerned about the insecurity and other challenges in that area and other parts of Nigeria. Senator Ekweremadu has also been at the forefront of the patriotic efforts to find lasting solutions to the challenges.

“The barbaric attack on Senator Ekweremadu at a forum to which he was invited to contribute to charting a course for the progress and happiness of Ndigbo debase our values as civilised people. It is most reprehensible and should be condemned by all right-thinking Nigerians,” Lawan said.

He urged the German authorities to identify those involved in the despicable act so that the law can take its course against them. Lawan also urged Nigerians to always reflect deeply and broadly before embarking on a course of action and advised the youth to ventilate whatever grievances they have along lines prescribed by the law and recommended by reason and democratic ethos.

The Senate President then urged Senator Ekweremadu not to be deterred by the incident from his path of service to his people and Nigerians in general, but to take it as part of the sacrifice of leadership.

Attack On Ike Ekweremadu in Germany, A National Embarrassment – Abike Dabiri

Attack on Ike Ekweremadu in Germany, a national embarrassment- Abike Dabiri-Erewa

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has condemned in its entirety, the attack on the former deputy senate president and current serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ike Ekweremadu at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival held in Nuremberg, Germany yesterday Saturday August 17th.

Senator Ekweremadu who was attending as a speaker/special guest of honor at the event organized by the Ndi-igbo Germany community was beaten up and egged publicly.

In a statement released this morning, Dabiri-Erewa described the incident as ”an embarrassment to the country”

According to her, some of the culprits who perpetrated the act have been apprehended. She called on the German government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that there are consequences for their actions.

It is also shamefully pathetic that an event which was nobly put together by the Ndi-Igbo community in Germany whose members make up the majority of Nigerians living in Germany, to amongst other things provide a forum for the Diasporans and various stakeholders to network and to facilitate a better cooperation between German and Nigerian businesses, ended up in such a disgraceful manner.

We appeal to Nigerians to be of good behavior wherever they find themselves because such incidents tarnish the image of the country” her statement read.

IPOB Members Vow To Attack South East Governors Attending Functions Abroad

IPOB members vow to attack South East governors attending functions abroad

Members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB,  have stated that they have a standing order to attack the governors of Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia and Enugu as well as other prominent indigenes of the South East attending functions abroad.

This comes hours after former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu was attacked at the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo in Nurnberg, Germany, yesterday Saturday August 17th.

IPOB members vow to attack South East governors attending functions abroad

IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a chat with Punch, said the state governors have been marked for attacks if they dare come abroad for any function. According to Powerful, the South East governors are traitors who have sold the lives of their people to their oppressors.

Making particular reference to the Operation Python Dance set up by the Military to curb the activities of Biafrans in the South East, Powerful said the South East governors over the years have watched as the military maimed their members without any just course.

He added that the governors watched as the Federal government proscribed and tagged IPOB a terrorist group but have remained silent as Fulani herdsmen continue to carry out series of attacks in the South East.

Today (Saturday), the Nuremberg IPOB family in Germany, in keeping with the long-standing directive from our leader to hound all instigators of the Operation Python Dance, is glad to report that Ike Ekweremadu was confronted and duly hounded out of a so-called New Yam Festival event in Germany.

Despite repeated warnings to the organisers of this jamboree that Enugu, Ebonyi and other parts of ‘Biafraland’ is under siege by the Fulani caliphate and their collaborators within, they went ahead to invite a known traitor, co-conspirator and one of those who worked with Igbo governors to proscribe and tag IPOB a terror organisation while they never raised any voice against the murderous Fulani herdsmen.

This should serve as a warning to Nnia Nwodo, Dave Umahi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Willie Obiano and others that any day we find them in a public event abroad, they will be humiliated. IPOB is strategically located in over 100 countries around the world. Anywhere we find them, they will be dealt with.” Powerful said

#BBNaija: Biggie Under Attack For Issuing Strike To Ike, Exempting Seyi

Big Brother Naija, BBNaija organizers have come under attack for issuing strike to housemate, Ike.

Biggie on Monday night issued another strike to Ike for attempting to attack a fellow housemate, Seyi.

Biggie’s judgement has since been criticized by Nigerians for his failure to issue Seyi a strike for provoking Ike.

DAILY POST had reported that Biggie issued Joe a strike for provoking Tacha to violence.

BBNaija fans took to their social media to vent their anger over Ike’s strike, stating that the reality show has been biased.

Some accused Biggie of being partial and in favour of Seyi. See fans reactions below;

@Idybongay “So Seyi that used abusive Yoruba words nko without interpreting goes free without a strike. hmmmm, Biggie you are partial.”

@Afrochic “Tacha shoved Mike, provoked Frodd, Tacha hit Joe, Biggie: 1 strike

“Joe provoked Tacha, Biggie: 1 strike, Ike provoked Seyi Biggie gave him 1 strike

“Seyi provoked Ike but nothing from Biggie, Biggie, you’re a FRAUD.”

@Xameicce “Dear Big Brother,in my honest opinion Tacha deserves atleast two strikes , I feel biggie hates Ike ,two strikes is bullshit! Seyi deserves a strike for cursing Thelma’s late brother.”

@Pat7alfred “I disagree with Biggie on the last one, aggrieved Ike was seated outside and Seyi came out attacking him. How’s that not provocation.”

@Kaykay “It’s obvious Biggie is playing games. Tacha gets 1 Strike for multiple fightings and altercations with HMs. Seyi gets none for cursing Thelma’s late bro, provoking Ike.”

@Davechuks_008 “I’m sure SEYI is related to big brother, same guy that was disqualified from participating in the veto power game and was later pardoned. Same guy won HOH even when it was clear someone else did better than him. Nigga is biggie’s favourite well done o.”

@Ogabossman “Why should Only Ike get that strike, Seyi should have benefited from it too because he provoked him and also insulted him using Tribal language.”

@Mitchel_Chris “Dear Biggie, since you like people who curse and insult, may you be cursed too.How about Seyi’s constant use of Yoruba in cursing? How about Tacha’s constant abuses to Frodd, slapping cigarettes from Ike, throwing issues at Mike. She deserved 5 strikes but, f**k you.”

@Tuneisfavoured “Biggie you’ve just shown you have zero entertainment skills. How dare you issue IKE a second strike and look past what Tasha and Seyi did?No wonder people want the show shutdown.”

@Kgomotso_tau “Biggie Ike gets a strike for what exactly? Why did you avoid to show Seyi video for cursing Thelma’s family? Where’s the video of Seyi claiming Niger boys will run down Ike? Is this show bias? Are you running a scam na? Where is consistency? Ebuka we need answers.”

Sydney Knife Attack: Man Arrested Over Stabbings in City Centre

An armed man has been arrested after stabbing a woman in central Sydney and being detained on the street by members of the public.

A second woman was found dead inside an apartment building on the same street.

“All the information we have at hand would link these two crimes,” police commissioner Mick Fuller said at a press conference.

He said the suspect was a “lone actor” with a history of mental health issues.

He was known to police but “his history was unremarkable compared to the gravity of the crimes he committed”, Mr Fuller said.

Photo from inside a car shows a man holding a large knife being confronted by a man holding a wicker chairPhotos taken at the scene show the stand-off between the knifeman and a passerby wielding a chair

The police commissioner said the suspect had some ideologies related to terrorism, but had no apparent links to other terrorist organisations.

It is believed the man had a USB drive containing details of mass killings in New Zealand and the United States.

Mr Fuller said the stabbing is not currently being classed as a terrorist incident but this would be reassessed as the investigation continues.

Three “heroes” were praised by New South Wales Police Minister David Elliot for their role in detaining the man and acting “well and truly beyond the call of any citizen”. He also congratulated the firefighters involved.

What happened?

The incident unfolded at about 14:00 local time (04:00 GMT) on Tuesday near Clarence St and King St, a busy area in the city centre.

Video footage shows the suspect jumping on a car wielding a knife, shouting “Allahu Akbar” and “shoot me”, as another man confronts him with a wicker chair.

Police said the suspect had stabbed a 41-year-old woman in the back before being restrained by three members of the public.

They “placed him essentially under arrest, even though he was branching a large butchers knife and was clearly dangerous”.

Emergency services arrived shortly after and following a wider investigation, the body of a 21-year-old woman was found nearby.

The injured woman was taken to hospital in a stable condition. Police said there was no ongoing threat.

‘Completely fearless’

“He was fearless. He was completely fearless,” said the taxi driver whose car was jumped on by the man.

“I froze for probably a split second but then I thought I’m hoping that he’s not covered in any explosives or anything,” he told Nine News Sydney. The Uber driver then quickly accelerated to force the man off his car.

One witness said she saw the man jump on a car before he was confronted by people on the street who tried to fight him with chairs and pipes.

“The guy had blood on his shirt. He was screaming, holding a knife on his hand, and running up a car just in front of us,” Japanese tourist Aya Yamada told the BBC.

“Another guy with a chair and some firefighters were chasing him. I was in the car with my husband and friends, and could run away immediately.”

The suspected knifeman standing in the streetWitnesses said the suspect apparently had blood on his shirt

Videos posted online show a man running through the streets brandishing a knife, before people attempt to stop him and eventually tackle him to the ground.

Other images show the suspect being pinned down with a chair and a milk crate, then being taken away by police.

‘Significantly brave’

Supt Wood praised those who had intervened in the “extremely dangerous and hostile” situation, saying their actions had helped capture the man.

“They were significantly brave people,” Supt Wood said.

Three British men were among those who helped take the man down, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Lee Cuthbert, Paul O’Shaughnessy and Luke O’Shaughnessy, all from Manchester, were working nearby when they heard the commotion outside and ran out to help.

“You don’t think, you just kind of react really. It was surreal, very, very surreal,” said Mr Cuthbert.

“We all kind of chased, worked together, but it was Luke who was the real hero. He pursued him the hardest and managed to get a grip of him.”

Authorities have urged people to avoid the area.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison tweeted that the “violent attack” was “deeply concerning” but praised the “brave actions” of those who restrained the suspect.
