Ekweremadu Attack: PDP Were The Main Cheerleaders of IPOB And They Owe This Country An Apology – APC

Ekweremadu Attack: PDP were the main cheerleaders of IPOB and they?owe this country an apology? - APC

The APC while condemning the shameful assault on former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Nuremberg, Germany says the opposition party, PDP owes the country an apology for its support to IPOB in the past.

In a statement signed by APC’s national publicity secretary Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC said, ‘It is clear that PDP and its other shortsighted co-travelers who were the main cheerleaders of IPOB owe this country an apology. IPOB hid under regional identity to perpetrate criminality having recruited some misguided elements and miscreants’.

See the full statement below….

The All Progressives Congress (APC) strongly condemns the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu, immediate past Senate President and serving Senator by members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Saturday in Nuremberg, Germany.

Those involved in the despicable actions and the organisation they represent are unworthy in character. No Nigerian should be assaulted in the manner Senator Ekweremadu was.

It is an indecent action and it is below the acceptable standard of behaviour expected of our citizens whether in Nigeria or abroad. It is however regrettable that some of the people and organizations who had offered these irresponsible elements open support in the past are raising their voices now. It would be recalled that the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its leaders chose to play politics over a matter that called for collective patriotic actions when IPOB raised a terror group in the South East.

It is clear that PDP and its other shortsighted co-travelers who were the main cheerleaders of IPOB owe this country an apology. IPOB hid under regional identity to perpetrate criminality having recruited some misguided elements and miscreants.

Are we surprised by the PDP’s hypocritical reaction to the unfortunate attack on Senator Ekweremadu? No! The PDP and their leaders have acted true to type. This is what happens when politicians become myopic and allow narrow sentiments becloud their sense of judgement.

We all have a responsibility to collectively rise against evil wherever we find it and in whatever guise it appears. We hope lessons have been learnt from this unfortunate incident. SIGNED

IPOB Members Vow To Attack South East Governors Attending Functions Abroad

IPOB members vow to attack South East governors attending functions abroad

Members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB,  have stated that they have a standing order to attack the governors of Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia and Enugu as well as other prominent indigenes of the South East attending functions abroad.

This comes hours after former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu was attacked at the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo in Nurnberg, Germany, yesterday Saturday August 17th.

IPOB members vow to attack South East governors attending functions abroad

IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a chat with Punch, said the state governors have been marked for attacks if they dare come abroad for any function. According to Powerful, the South East governors are traitors who have sold the lives of their people to their oppressors.

Making particular reference to the Operation Python Dance set up by the Military to curb the activities of Biafrans in the South East, Powerful said the South East governors over the years have watched as the military maimed their members without any just course.

He added that the governors watched as the Federal government proscribed and tagged IPOB a terrorist group but have remained silent as Fulani herdsmen continue to carry out series of attacks in the South East.

Today (Saturday), the Nuremberg IPOB family in Germany, in keeping with the long-standing directive from our leader to hound all instigators of the Operation Python Dance, is glad to report that Ike Ekweremadu was confronted and duly hounded out of a so-called New Yam Festival event in Germany.

Despite repeated warnings to the organisers of this jamboree that Enugu, Ebonyi and other parts of ‘Biafraland’ is under siege by the Fulani caliphate and their collaborators within, they went ahead to invite a known traitor, co-conspirator and one of those who worked with Igbo governors to proscribe and tag IPOB a terror organisation while they never raised any voice against the murderous Fulani herdsmen.

This should serve as a warning to Nnia Nwodo, Dave Umahi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Willie Obiano and others that any day we find them in a public event abroad, they will be humiliated. IPOB is strategically located in over 100 countries around the world. Anywhere we find them, they will be dealt with.” Powerful said

I Was Attacked By IPOB in Germany – Senator Ike Ekweremadu Confirms, Reveals Why

I was attacked by IPOB in Germany - Senator Ike Ekweremadu confirms, reveals why

Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has confirmed that he was attacked by some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo Germany in Nurnberg, Germany.

The Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial district at the red chamber revealed that shortly after he arrived the venue and was given a resounding welcome by organizers of the event in Germany, some IPOB members stormed the venue complaining about the killings in the South East and also insisted that there would be no Igbo event at the venue.

Ike Ekweremadu said he had to leave the venue of the event after the IPOB members became unruly when he tried to engage them. He however added that he was disappointed in their conduct as he has always spoken against the extra-judicial killings in Igbo land and elsewhere both on the floor of the Senate and in written and personal engagements with the Presidency. The lawmaker also disclosed that he rallied the South East Senate Caucus to secure Nnamdi Kanu’s release with Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe taking him on bail to douse tension in the South East.

The statement he released reads in full;

I Was Attacked by IPOB in Germany

I attended the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo Germany in Nurnberg today where I was billed to give a keynote address along with the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, who, however could not make it eventually.

I was given a resounding welcome by Ndigbo in Germany and everything went smoothly until some men, who identified themselves as IPOB members stormed the venue and began to complain about the killings in the South East, stressing that there would be no Igbo event at the venue.

I tried to engage them, but when they became unruly, I had to leave the venue. The organisers also invited the police and I was accompanied out of the venue.

Much as I am disappointed in their conduct, especially as I am one of the persons, who have spoken up on justice for Ndigbo, the Python Dance, extra-judicial killings in Igbo land and elsewhere both on the floor of the Senate and in my written and personal engagements with the Presidency as well as rallied the South East Senate Caucus to secure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release with Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe taking him on bail to douse tension in the South East, I nevertheless do not hold this to heart against them, for they know not what they do.

I have received thousands of solidarity calls and messages from well meaning Ndigbo and Nigerians. I want to assure them that I am hale and hearty. I have also spoken with the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

IPOB members have explained why they attacked former deputy senate president at a function in Nurnberg, Germany today Saturday August 17th.

In a video shared by Radio Biafra, the aggrieved Biafrans say they are against their leaders celebrating New Yam festival in Germany when their indigenes back home are being killed, raped and attacked by Fulani herdsmen.

”They are killing your people and you are here celebrating yam festival. They are killing your people, raping your women, Fulani, and you are here you want to celebrate Yam. God will punish all of you” 0ne of the aggrieved Biafrans said

IPOB To Change Its Name After Proscription As Terrorist Group? Here’s What The Kanu-led Group Is Saying

The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra on Friday alleged that some leaders have paid some unnamed individuals to float another pro-Biafra group to replace IPOB in a plot meant to create the impression that IPOB was no more.

In a statement released by IPOB spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, on Friday, the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said that it has no plans to operate under a new name as a result of its proscription as a terrorist group by the Federal Government, adding that the group would not change its name.

The statement reads, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leadership worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the prophet our time, wish to bring to the attention of Biafrans and the world at large that IPOB has never and will never change name because of kangaroo and black market order obtained from a Federal High Court Abuja.

It came to our knowledge that some unscrupulous individuals and groups in our society have been paid by Federal government, Igbo governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Nnia Nwodo to form another group.

“There is no such organisation in place of IPOB.

“The fact of the matter is that the Federal Government, in collusion with Igbo governors, are using some individuals to give the impression that IPOB is no more.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. Our protests going on all over the world is clear evidence that IPOB is presently enjoying more appeal than at any other time in our history.

“Many more scams like this will be unleashed on the gullible in the coming weeks and months but we are not perturbed because we have machinery in place to debunk such nonsense as they arise.

“People are flooding to IPOB that remains till this day, the biggest mass movement anywhere on earth.

“The Federal Government, Igbo governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo may form these mushroom groups once in a while but they quickly fizzle out as they came.

“The United State, United Kingdom, France and the European Union have made it clear that IPOB is not a terrorist organisation so anybody entertaining the thought that it is, can only be considered an agent of Nigeria and enemy of Biafra

IPOB Member Killed During Military Invasion In Abia Finally Laid To Rest

A member of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB who was killed during the military invasion in Umuahia, Abia state capital has been laid to rest.

The young man identified as Ahamefula Austin Nnadi who was said to have been shot by soldiers – was buried yesterday September 27th, 2017 at his hometown in Umuduruehie in Imo state.

May his soul rest in peace.

IPOB May Stop Igbos From Having Nigeria’s NEXT President – Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has stated that the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra will affect the chances of Igbos to produce Nigeria’s president. According to him, the agitators had every right to complain about marginalization and not a call for separation from the country.

He told newsmen on Thursday that IPOB was not good for the South East, and it was not the best way for them to complain about marginalisation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said, “There are better ways; the IPOB way is too primitive. If IPOB must do a thing like that it should have changed the name and fought the way Ijaw youths fought, Arewa youths fought, and they would have made more impact. For everything that comes from the Igbo man, we love to go to the extreme.

“Now you want to separate yourself from Nigeria, meanwhile, South-South will not go with you, Edo, Rivers will not go with you. If you cut us off here now as South east, if I need to go to Rivers State, I will go and ask for passport and visa, and we are keeping quiet to say this.

“If there is a crisis now, there is no Hausa man in Igbo land who has a duplex, there is no Yoruba man who has a room and parlour or a N20 million investment in Igbo land, but Igbo have trillions of naira virtually everywhere.

“The same people are asking for secession. If Igbo are asked to go, what happens? They would lose their property, and all of us are keeping quiet, supporting IPOB! It was very childish, and those behind this should stop, that is my advice.

“South-South has produced the president, South-West has produced a president and Vice President, the north has produced many presidents, it is hoping that one day in the next shift, by whatever arrangement, the next people that should be considered is the South-East by Nigeria’s sharing formula.

“So, where are we in our wisdom and the intelligence? That is my position on IPOB; my advice is that Igbo should change their style and condemn IPOB in a manner that should be done and let us flow with the rest of Nigeria for now because we shall benefit more than anyone else.”

Former President Jonathan Finally Reacts To IPOB

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan took wrote on his facebook page to react to recent acts of violence. Below is what he wrote:

“The reports I have received about recent developments in the country lead me to appeal to all men of good will to use whatever influence they have to push for peaceful coexistence and restraint on all sides. Perhaps it is time for the Council of State to intervene and offer its wise counsel.

In as much as there may be a need to enforce order, there is a greater need to reinforce our humanity and treat Nigerian citizens humanely whether they be from the North or South. Nothing justifies the desecration and destruction of religious places of worship or a police station. But even more so, nothing justifies the endangering of human life.

Let us exchange ideas instead of exchanging insults and threats. Nigeria is going through tough times because God wants us to grow through tough times. We must be resolute as a people even as we know that it is impossible to deny the brotherhood of all Nigerians after over a century of a shared commonwealth. GEJ”.

Irrespective of whatever provocation, Nigerians must never turn on each other. Even in the face of difficult circumstances, we must have faith that God in His infinite wisdom will guide us to finding a way out that is fair and just to all concerned.

Police Arraign 32 Members Of IPOB In Port Harcourt For Killing Police Officer

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, yesterday remanded 32 suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in prison

The Magistrate declined jurisdiction and ordered that the case files be transmitted to the office of the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Magistrate Amadi Amadi-Nna adjourned the matter indefinitely.

The Rivers State Police Command arraigned the members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) arrested during the recent clash between the group and some residents of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The arrested persons, which the Commissioner of Police in the state, Zaki Ahmed, put at about 32, were arrested for allegedly causing the breach of peace and destroying properties, and also killing a Police Sergeant during the crisis.

Three other policemen were injured and two Police vans burnt. Three police weapons and 68 live ammunition were carted away, among others.

The State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, assured that the suspects would face the full weight of the law if found guilty at the end of their trial to serve as deterrent to others.

Nnamdi Kanu Plotting To Over Power Buhari, Split Nigeria –Arewa Youths

The Arewa youths, yesterday, accused Nnamdi Kanu and his group of plotting a violent overthrow of the government of Muhammadu Buhari and to weaken the North. Although the youths did not provide evidence, the allegations were contained in a statement signed by spokesman of the Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Suleiman.

According to Vanguard, the CNG noted the turmoil occasioned by incessant violent agitations since President Buhari assumed power in 2015, were aimed at making the country ungovernable and effecting a change of government by “whatever means and tactics.”

The CNG also claimed that the attacks on Buhari and his government was part of a larger plot to cause an inter-regional crisis that could lead to general unrest. The CNG said:

“The resurgence of separatist agitations, especially the violent brand by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its ilk in the South-East, represent a much wider conspiracy to divide Nigeria along ethnic and religious fault lines as well as achieve the balkanization of the North. “The current IPOB brand of agitation is a strategy employed to achieve the results that the coupists of the First Republic failed to realize, namely, increase the weight and relevance of the regions to the detriment and expense of the central government.

“The agitations for separation and the cry for Biafra would become louder and the agitators, supported by their politicians, would become emboldened to act in more radical and violent manner thereby sparking retaliation in the North with subsequent attacks to be perpetrated against Northerners in the South-East. “In the event of such, the North would then be held up as the real culprit and the cause of the break-up of Nigeria,” CNG warned.

But the group said it would not be provoked to retaliate against the antics of IPOB and its leader. Rather than join issues with IPOB, the coalition of youths plans to report the atrocities of the South East separatist group to the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to take necessary steps to deal with the pro-separatists.

Soldiers Forcefully Entered Nnamdi Kanu’s Home, His Whereabouts Unknown – Lawyer

The lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu has alleged that men of the Nigerian Army invaded the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra on Thursday afternoon. In a statement made available to Sources, the lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, accused the Nigerian Army of declaring war on Mr. Kanu and “innocent, unarmed and defenceless” supporters of IPOB.

“The Military has declared war on the innocent, unarmed and defenceless civilians. Sporadic shooting is going on in the premises of Nnamdi Kanu now.

“The situation is serious. My client’s whereabouts has remained unknown. His entire house has been shattered with bullets and missiles.

“The soldiers had just forcefully gained entrance into his house after shooting for about 40 minutes. His entrance gate was broken and forced open. Their mission is still unknown as every person seen in his house has surrendered, including his aged parents.

“We will avail the world with the pictures of these dastardly acts,” Mr. Ejiofor said. The lawyer called on supporters of Biafra to remain calm in the face of what he described as “unprovoked killings.”

“In the face of this unprovoked killings, torture, abduction and malicious destruction of property, I still appeal for calm from IPOB members. Just be assured that the entire world is watching. Do not take up arms, continue to conduct yourselves in the most civilized manner you are well known for,” Mr. Ejiofor said.

Mr. Ejiofor has repeatedly accused the Nigerian army of plotting to forcefully take down his client, alleging that several members of the IPOB have already been killed by the soldiers.

On Sunday, the lawyer accused the army of attacking IPOB members, ‘without provocation’ killing several people.

“They had continued to shot sporadically into the air through which assault, about five of his family members were brutally wounded and some unfortunately killed.

“There is no doubt that the present deployment of troops to the South East is to haunt for my client and possibly eliminate him,” the statement said.

There has, however, not been any evidence of deaths, although there have been reported injuries to civilians as well as security personnel.

A video footage forwarded to Sources by Mr. Ejiofor regarding the said killings, indicated that soldiers driving past the neighbourhood of Mr. Kanu’s residence in Abia State were being pelted with stones by the IPOB members, who appeared to also be armed with sticks, as seen in the footage, shortly before one of the IPOB members was shot in the leg.

Reacting to the allegations, the Nigerian army denied attacking the agitators without provocation, adding that the presence of soldiers in the area was a continuation of a military exercise in the south-eastern region of the country, tagged: Operation Python Dance 2.

In a similar development, the Nigerian army has vowed to investigate another videofootage where some members of IPOB were seen tortured by men alleged to have been military operatives.

In a third video seen Thursday evening by Sources, unclear sounds are heard while a cameraman goes round Mr. Kanu’s house, describing what he (the camera man) called ‘shootings by soldiers’ at the gate of Mr. Kanu’s residence.

The army is yet to speak on the current development.

However, the police on Thursday confirmed that suspected IPOB members burnt down a police station and assaulted an officer in Aba, the state’s commercial centre.

A dusk to dawn curfew on Aba was extended by the state governor to Friday.

Aba In Confusion As Police Station Burnt By IPOB Members, Many Feared Dead

The city of Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State is on fire today as unidentified persons in the early hours of today attacked the Ariaria Police Divisional Headquarters and burnt it.

Most markets in the city and other businesses have been closed and people stayed in their homes as youth unrest spread round the city like wild fire following rumours that went viral in the wee hours of today that soldiers burnt houses and killed some residents of Umuode near Aba and its environs, Sun reports.

Information about the attack as at the time of filing the report was sketchy, although sources said that there was no casualty.

It was gathered that following the attack, security has been beefed up at the Aba Area Command Headquarters and other Police Divisions in the commercial city.

The Area Command headquarters was cordoned off and vehicles were not allowed to enter the adjourning roads.

Hausa Men Take Cover In A Police Station After Clash With IPOB In Rivers

Some Hausa indigenes were spotted taking cover at Umuebulu police station in Rivers state, according to Victor Ezeanochie who shared the below photo.

This happened after some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday allegedly clashed with the Hausa community in Oyibo Local Government Area of Rivers.

Nnamdi Kanu Gets Highest Igbo Title As Otu Onye Nakpu Ogwe 1 Of Biafra Land

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been reportedly honoured with the highest title in Igbo land, south-eastern Nigeria.

Kanu was decorated with the title of the ‘greatest Biafran Warrior’ by the Odumeze of Ohafia, Abia state, and other elders, according to Somto Okonkwo, who posted the photographs on social media.

Kanu, according to Okonkwo, is now the Otu Onye Nakpu Ogwe 1 of Biafra Land.

However, the controversy that seems to have emerged from the award of the title is the place of the late Biafran warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Ojukwu, who was an officer of the Nigerian Army before the war, is often described as a warrior and even had a title to that effect.

Aniebo Nwamu, a Nigerian analyst, recently said: “One of the prominent titles conferred on Ojukwu on his return from exile in 1982 was Dike Di Ora Mma (The warrior loved by all).”

He described the title as “an apt description of the visionary from the east who was born in the north and grew up in the west.”

Until months ago, Nnamdi Kanu had been in detention on the order of the federal government over alleged treasonable offences.

The government is also reportedly asking the court to withdraw the bail condition it granted Kanu with the argument that he had abused some of the conditions he was given.

Naijaloaded had earlier reported that Nnamdi Kanu, on Wednesday, September 6, received some IPOB supporters who were released from alleged military detention.

It was gathered that the unarmed youths were detained on Monday night, September 4, at the popular Isi Gate area, after they clashed with the army.

Update: What Nnamdi Kanu Discussed With South East Governors Yesterday

Yesterday, the South East Governors’ Forum says it will engage the leadership of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to find solutions to its agitations.

The Chairman of the forum, Gov. Dave Umahi disclosed this on Wednesday in Enugu in a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting between members of the forum and iPOB leader, Mr Nnamdi Kanu.

Umahi, who is the governor of Ebonyi said that the meeting deliberated on the demands of the group and had noted their concerns.

“However, the meeting agreed that the demands by IPOB should not be absolute, rather, the governors shall immediately engage the IPOB to further meetings,” he said.

The governor said that the meeting, which would also have in attendance other notable leaders of the group, would be aimed at quickening the resolution of all issues amicably.

“We, therefore, request from all concerned to give the governors opportunity to amicably sort out the problems,” Umahi said.

Governors in attendance during the meeting were Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Anambra Deputy Governor, Chief Nkem Okeke.

Others were Prof. Ben Nwabueze (SAN) and Mr Elliot Uko, leader of Igbo Youth Movement.

HOT!! FG Asks Court To Return Nnamdi Kanu To Prison

Biafra separatist leader might be strolling back to the confines of the prison cell where he stayed for 18 months if the public pleas are granted by the court.

The Federal Government has urged a Federal High Court in Abuja to revoke the bail it granted leader of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and return him to prison.

The government argued that Kanu has not only breached the conditions attached to the bail granted him on April 25 this year on health ground, he has allegedly conducted himself in manners that threaten public peace.

It cited Kanu’s alleged threat that elections would not hold in South East states until the Fed Govt conduct referendum on whether or not Biafra should secede and instances where the IPOB leader addressed crowd exceeding 10 and threatened civil disobedience, as against the court’s directive that he must not be seen in a crowd of over 10 people.

The government, in a counter-motion, dated August 1, 2017 filed by Magaji Labaran of the Federal Ministry of Justice, urged the court to dismiss an application by Kanu, seeking a review of the bail conditions. It noted that not only had Kanu met the bail conditions and was enjoying the bail, it was an affront to the court’s authority for the IPOB leader to approach the court for the review of the bail conditions, having allegedly breached the conditions.

“The offence for which he (Kanu) is standing trial is not ordinarily bailable; the court, not withstanding, granted bail to the 1st defendant/applicant (Kanu) on health grounds on 25th April 2017.

“Among other conditions for the bail of the 1st defendant is that he should not be seen in a crowd exceeding 10 people; that he should not grant any interviews, hold or attend any rallies; that he should file, in court, medical updates of his health status every month. The bail conditions were perfected by the 1stdefendant/applicant, which he is currently enjoying.

“Rather than observing all the conditions listed above, the 1st defendant, in fragrant disobedience to the court order, flouted all conditions given by the court.

“The 1st defendant equally incited his members to disrupt, disallow and boycott elections in South East states, starting with Anambra State gubernatorial election scheduled for November 18 if the Federal Government failed to hold referendum for the realisation of the state of Biafra.

“The 1st defendant has already declared the bail conditions given by the court unconstitutional before approaching this court with the application for variation. Rather than showing remorse for his actions, the 1st defendant approached this court with an application for a review of the same conditions for the bail which he grossly flouted.

“Considering the above, that the 1st applicant has violated the conditions on which the terms of his bail were premised, we urged this court to commit the defendant to prison by invoking the provision of Section 173(2)(B) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

“We categorically state that justice would have been denied the state by this court, if the state is not protected from the offences being perpetrated by the 1stdefendant/applicant, who is currently on bail,” the Fed Govt said.

Kanu and four other suspected IPOB members – Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi and Bright Chimezie – are being tried before the Federal High Court, Abuja on offences relating to conspiracy and treasonable felony.

More so, Kanu, who will be facing four out of the five amended charges, has declared his determination to get the charges quashed for being “grossly incompetent” and for “want of diligent prosecution”.

The IPOB leader, through his team of lawyers led by Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, accused FG of violating an express order of the trial court that forbade any of the parties from filing any form of interlocutory application pending the commencement of full-blown trial of the defendants.

Ejiofor accused FG of deliberately stalling the case while fishing for evidence against the defendants. According to him, rather than to open its case on June 22, FG, served an amended five-count charge on the defendants, “in clear breach and violation of an order the court made on April 25, 2017, wherein his Lordship warned, that the court will not entertain further interlocutory application or process capable of delaying the trial”.

He alleged that FG joined the 5th defendant, Chimezie, in the case after a Federal High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State had on May 24, not only ordered his immediate release from custody of the Department of State Service , DSS, but equally directed that he should be paid N5million as damages having been illegally detained for period that exceeded the constitutional provision.

Besides, the IPOB leader has filed a motion asking trial Justice Nyako to vary some of his bail conditions which he maintained were arbitrary and unconstitutional. Meanwhile, a group of lawyers under the aegis of Anambra State Lawyers in Defence of Democracy, ASLADD, have petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, asking him to commence a “high-powered clinical investigation into activities of the IPOB”.

The petitioners, while condemning IPOB’s position that governorship election will not hold in Anambra state on November 18 as scheduled, urged the AGF “to deploy all the instruments and powers of the Nigerian State” available to him, to tackle the IPOB. The petition read in part: “The IPOB have taken a position that they would “boycott” the forthcoming Anambra 2017 elections. We do not have any problem with them on this position.

However, our challenge with IPOB is their seeming inability to appreciate the meaning of the word “boycott” as it relates to Anambra election. We are worried that their mode of propagating their “No referendum, no election” mantra suggests that the word “boycott” has another meaning assigned to it in their own dictionary which is “disruption” of all legitimate activities of government and electioneering activities calculated at striking terror in the minds of the citizens who have made up their mind to discharge their civic duty on the 18th day of November, 2017.

“Sir, the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB are always quick to raise the green banner of “non-violence” and take refuge under its canopied ambience whereas their official dissemination channel, Radio Biafra, is a flowing river of hate-speeches, incitement to violence and war.

“Hate speech leads to war and war leads to deaths and, therefore, IPOB preaches violence. In the South-East [especially in Onitsha which is our commercial nerve centre], the IPOB miscreants extort money from traders after intimidating them. IPOB hoodlums illegally mount roadblocks to force other citizens to buy their Biafra flags and insignia not minding whether such citizens subscribe to their separatist ideology or whether such citizens have the money to pay for the said flags.

They harass citizens and threaten them with violence. “They intimidate them to close their shops. IPOB street urchins have on two remarkable occasions disrupted campaigns rallies and have most infamously invaded and desecrated St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State where the Governor was to worship [with their chants of no referendum, no election]. Indeed, they have a rich history of mischief.

“This is potentially dangerous. IPOB is exposing the Igbo to another war and this is unacceptable. “As the Chief Law Officer of the country and the number one defender of our constitution and rule of law, you will agree with us that all these acts complained of [in their aggregate] rudely strike at the root of democracy and constitute a grave threat to the operation of the Nigerian Constitution in the Eastern part of Nigeria especially in Anambra State in view of the governorship election holding later in November.

This has now crystallised to a weighty responsibility on your shoulders more so when these acts complained of mostly draw their inspiration from the activities of Nnamdi Kanu who has literally rumpled all the conditions to which his bail was tied and is now revelling in contempt of the Federal High Court with unprecedented and scandalous impunity.

“Speaking from the Bar, we are convinced that the security reports [on IPOB activities] from the security agencies in Anambra State [Onitsha in particular] cannot contradict these complaints we have tabled before you unless the commanders have not been alive to their responsibilities”.

ASLADD equally copied their petition dated August 14 to the United Nations Mission in Nigeria, Ambassador of the United States to Nigeria, The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, The European Union Mission to Nigeria, National Human Rights Commission, The Inspector-General of Police, The Defence Headquarters, The Director-General, State Security Service, The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The Federal House of Representatives, South-East Governors Forum and Anambra Council of Traditional Rulers.

IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Inspects Newly Inaugurated Biafra Secret Service

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has launched the Biafra Secret Service (BSS).

Kanu, in a video obtained online, inspected a guard of honour mounted by his followers in their full uniforms.

According to Daily Post, IPOB also condemned Governor Rochas Okorocha for saying that its leader is deceiving Igbos.

Speaking to newsmen, IPOB’s Directorate of State, represented by Chinasa Nworu said that the group is ready to go to war to actualise its dream for a Biafra nation.

Nworu also said;
“We ask for a referendum to go our separate way, but you, Okorocha and your Hausa Fulani brothers are conversing for war.

“If it comes to that, Biafrans shall defend themselves, we have done it before and we shall gladly and happily do it again.

“Remember that 2017 shall never be compared to 1967-1970. As you summoned the pastors, traditional leaders and your so called leaders also don’t fail to summon the Arewa youths to build bridges over the lives of Biafran in the Northern Nigeria over their quit notice of October 1st, 2017.”

Recall, Governor Rochas Okorocha had earlier described Nnamdi Kanu as a man looking for relevance, adding that he is misleading Igbos.

‘We Did Not Attack Obiano, He Was Attacked By His Opponents’ – IPOB

The Independent People Of Biafra has through her publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful accused the federal government, Anambra state goverment and the political elites in Nigeria for sponsoring fake news aginst her members, The body has recently been accused of massive attacks on campaign grounds, churches and other activities which witnessed a governorship faithfuls in the coming Nov 18th election in Anambra.

According to Emma Powerful who responded to the attack on the Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, These government contractors mobilized people who went to Catholic church harassed those in a church service in Ekwulobia in order to create room for security operatives begin to arrest our members in Ekwulobia and it’s environs. IPOB leaders and members are very intelligent people who cannot involve in any act of violence.

It is crystal clear to all and sundry that IPOB under Nnamdi kanu remain nonviolent in their pursuit for Biafra freedom and cannot change our methods of peaceful approach towards the restoration of Biafra. The election boycott in Anambra come November this year remain but cannot cause any violence.

We are aware that some politicians and Nigeria security employed some uneducated individuals and groups in the society to harass the general public in the name of IPOB members. some government contractors printed IPOB t- shirts and Biafra flag with huge amount of money to be shared to the hungry youths to claim to be IPOB members under Nnamdi kanu.

We are advising the general public beware of fake IPOB who were paid by politicians to cause confusion in Anambra and states in Biafra.

“There Will Be No Election In The State If Nigeria Is Not Restructured Before October 1, 2017” – Nnamdi Kanu Says

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who took his campaign for the creation of Biafra to Ebonyi state today, has stated that Anambra governorship election will not hold if Nigeria is not restructured before October 1, 2017.

He met with IPOB members in the state and spoke on ways the group can successfully create Biafra without resorting to violence.

He reportedly gave the condition on Monday at an event in Enugu where he received awards from three Igbo groups, including the Eastern Consultative Assembly and the Igbo Students’ Association.

According to him, the election will only be held in the state if the federal government restructures the country before October 2017 and gives him a date for a referendum.

He said:

“There will be no election in Anambra State come November 2017 and going forward there won’t be any election until they give me a date for a referendum.

“They know what to do; convene a meeting, I will send my rep; give us a date for the referendum, that is the only way.

“In which part of this earth have you ever found a measure of self-determination to be equated to war except in Nigeria because the political leaders do not understand the difference between self-determination and war?

“Self-determination does not mean hate speech; the status quo can no longer remain. Like my brother Evangelist Eliot Ugochukwu-Uko said, if on or before October 1 nothing happens in terms of substantial restructuring, then there won’t be any election; the people will support us.”

The Anambra governorship election is to hold on the 18th of November 2017.

Governor Obiano Makes Serious Threat To IPOB Members

The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has warned the Indigenous People of Biafra to stay away from the state during the scheduled November 18 poll.

The governor threatened deal with anybody who would pose a threat to the poll or disrupt the peace been enjoyed in the state, no matter how highly placed.

The governor, who insisted that elections in the state will go on as scheduled, said the pro-Biafran agitators had no legal backing to stop the poll.

He warned those planning to upset the election to have a rethink or be ready to face the full weight of the law.

He said:

“We are going to go after them; we will deal with those who said there would be no election in the state decisively. People are free to vote the candidates of their choice, you can see that in Anambra State today, people now sleep with their two eyes closed.” he insisted.

Recall that IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu had severely threatened that there would be no election in Anambra State and the entire South-East geopolitical zone.

It was also gathered that the pro-Biafra group had planned to attack campaign rallies in the state to create fears in the people about the poll.
